PunishmentOfPillagersCreation Timestamp: 23 Sep 2005 - 16:01Description/TraitsAnother day of knowing ofthe path I fear to tread, Oh into the sea of waking dreams I follow without pride -- Sarah Mclachlan, Possession [1] Aboard the StarShipJustice[n], immediately following the scene: QuestOfPatricia. Patricia [1, introduce], her templars and crew cast off from the dock. The ship moves with an eerie quiet[n], along an earthly reflection of the paths of the heavens, graceful as the stars themselves[n]. "That town was perverse; they reveled in their sin, threw their deviance at us with pride. Has it been so long since they've been scourged?" Inside, Patricia trembles with anger[1]... and fear. The punishment will be a harsh one this time-- will she faint again? -- ScottMartin 03 00 - 23 Sep 2005 The first mate[n], Jito[1], stands beside her. "The guilty either flee or fight when faced with the sight of their crimes, Your Holiness. Sometimes they're not smart enough to flee." He shouts a small course adjustment to the crew[1], then speaks again to her quietly. "We started patrolling as usual while you went ashore[1], but these raiders slipped past us somehow. That makes them a crafty bunch." Although Patricia is probably too busy to notice it[1], one of the crewmen, AzAzom, is missing.[1] -- AdrienneTraxler 06 00 -- 26 Sep 2005 - 11:45:49 Oh Man...Is Patricia the Silver Capitain? That would be crazy! -- TrevisMartin - 26 Sep 2005 18:36:24
I'm awarding a FanMail coin to Adrienne for that little bit

I'm confused about the comments above...Trevis, are you having a dialog with yourself? -- ChristopherWeeks - 27 Sep 2005 19:07:04
I can see where it kinda looks that way. I was just trying to express enthusiasm but also wanted to put the award line on its own so it didn't fill up the importance table on the bottom of the page. -- TrevisMartin - 27 Sep 2005
The raiders[n] are riding a curious sight -- a low-slung catamaran[1] with a great bronze-colored sail[1] glinting brightly in the afternoon sun. It is hard to imagine how they sailed unseen.

I changed the name of the scene, assuming it was a typo. If I was wrong, Scott, change it back. -- ChristopherWeeks - 27 Sep 2005 19:24:13
It looks right now, so whatever I had must have been a typo. -- ScottMartin - 28 Sep 2005 15:58:58
"Make speed, my loyal crew[n], for the Templars are committed to a righteous course. We have pillagers to pillage and bandits to brand. Forward!"
-- ScottMartin 00 00 -- 28 Sep 2005 - 16:10:41
A shout goes up from the strange vessel [1, control of the raiders], followed by a strange chant [1]. Though it seems impossible, the catamaran begins to pick up speed as the raiders spirit magic summons the energy contained in the spirit urns[1]. The angle of the bronze sail changes and suddenly the fullness of the suns blaze blinds those aboard the Justice[1]
Complication! The raiders will try to escape the Star Ship. I'm drawing 1 for SpiritRaidersOfTheGreenSea, 1 for their trait of crafty, 1 for the bronze sail reflecting as above, 1 for spirit magic.

I'll call on Starship Justice (1), Starship (1), and graceful for (1). I'll also draw on Patricia's deeply intuitive (1); she'll figure out a way to cut them off. My total is 4 dice. I'll let Jito join in before we roll...
-- ScottMartin 00 00 -- 30 Sep 2005 - 15:24:45
Rolling, b/c we've waited long enough.
Roll is: 8, 5, 8, 10, 10, 1, 7, 9
Thanks, I was at that point myself. -- ScottMartin - 06 Oct 2005 15:16:11
When the painful flash subsides, the Star Ship finds itself far behind the catamaran. [1] "Shall we chase them, your holiness?" Asks Jito. Patricia considers carefully. "Yes, we must not let them succeed in pillaging spirits. Onward!" The Star Ship cruises forward at top speed, pursuing the vessel that is now a small patch of glinting bronze on the wide expanse of the green blue sea. [1]
Tirelessly, day and night, the Star Ship refuses to give up its quarry, keeping it in sight. [1] Early morning, the 5th day of the chase, a shout goes up from the nest. [1] "There's something out there!" The crewman shouts. Patricia, roused from her few hours of slumber, mounts the command deck. [1] "Jito, what is it?" Wordlessly Jito hands the spyglass over. [1] Patricia looks toward her quarry just as the sun breaks over the horizon. uncountable glints of bronze dot the wide calm sea. [1] "By the Stars, there must be thousands of ships!" Patricia says in awe.
"It can only be TheLost [1]." Says Jito, "We are in danger here, Holiness" [1] "They turned their face from the stars [1] and were punished with the sinking of their island.[1]"
"I thought them a myth," Patricia murmers in wonder, as she sees the ship they are chasing disappear amidst its fellows. [1]

Cool! But you don't have to pay for control when narrating the outcome of a Complication, right? -- ChristopherWeeks - 07 Oct 2005 14:31:47
[1, control] Patricia asks, "Why would they steal the spirit urns? Are they our guides, or are they taking them for some purpose?"
-- ScottMartin 01 04 -- 07 Oct 2005 - 15:33:21
You're probably right Chris, and that seems to be implied by the rules but I can't find an explicit statment to that effect. It does look like I can narrate for everything in the complication without taking it over. Temp control, I guess. In which case I'm editing to get my 3 control coins back. If anyone objects, speak up. -- TrevisMartin - 07 Oct 2005 23:57:51
